Vermeer, Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art: Masterpieces from The Rijksmuseum
Reece Terris: Ought Apartment
Stan Douglas: Klatsassin
Andreas Gursky: Werke/Works  80-08
Anthony Hernandez
Two Visions: Emily Carr & Jack Shadbolt

With its impressive collection of decorative arts, Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum is a glimpse back to 16th and 17th century Holland. The exhibition offers more than just the classic portraits of Rembrandt and Hals, with textiles, silver and stunning still-life paintings on display as well.

While the headlining act doesn't disappoint, save time for floors 2-4, including the rotunda, where you can find Reece Terris' constructed Ought Apartment. Salvaged items assembled into 6 separate apartments stacked atop one another invite the viewer to explore the created environments both physically and emotionally.

Stan Douglas's Klatsassin
and collected photographs offer remarkable views of the Cariboo and Chilcotin somewhat reminiscent of the Dutch landscapes found in the Rijksmuseum exhibition, while Andreas Gursky's Werke/Works 80-08 showcase the photographer's aptness in capturing the patterns found in everyday life.

To round out the photo trifecta, Anthony Hernandez's Los Angeles street photography presents compelling portraits, especially his candid series Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive 1984.

And for repeat visitors, don't forget to pay a visit to Two Visions: Emily Carr & Jack Shadbolt.  The familiar works of Emily Carr paired with the drawing and paintings of Jack Shadbolt offer a new perspective of both artist's oeuvre.
